A Few "Pushing Daisies" Fan Pics, Cute Cast Tidbits and Potential Spoilers
SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2007
I was lucky enough to attend the autograph session at last year's Comic-Con and chatted very briefly with the cast. Some random tidbits:
- Everyone was complimenting Anna on her daisies outfit (she's just all sorts of freaking adorable).
- She thought Comic-Con was really cool and was asking us about Superman Doomsday (which was a really big thing at Comic-Con). We weren't completely sure about it, and we tried to explain what we knew about it to her. He dies...he comes back...we were a little clearer about it at the time, but I honestly can't remember anymore.
- I asked Lee if he would make the autograph out to me, and he happily obliged, but while he was writing, I asked him what his favorite kind of pie was and he was like, "Wait...hold on...I can't write and talk and the same time...I'm dyslexic!" It was very cute.
- Anyways, Lee's favorite pies are berry pies. He also told me that Anna told him she loves fish pies, which they apparently have in England. He thought they sounded really weird (I actually tried one while I was in London...delicious!).
- Kristin and I just talked about her going back to Broadway, and she that she was going to do Young Frankenstein this year (which I guess she didn't end up doing because of her Daisies commitments).
SCREENING OF THE FALL AT THE HAMMER MUSEUM (April 17, 2008)
The Q&A after the film was only supposed to be with Tarsem, but Lee showed up as a surprise guest! It was really interesting to hear them both talk about the film...most of what was discussed has shown up in other interviews promoting The Fall.
I apologize about the lack of pictures from the Q&A, but not one person took out a camera (!), and I didn't want to be the only annoying person flashing away. The audience seemed like a very serious, artsy group who weren't really Pushing Daisies fans at all. Only one or two people approached Tarsem and Lee afterwards, and it was just to get their autographs very quickly. Anyways, I was glad there wasn't a mob because I was able to chat with Lee for a bit.
- **SPOILERS**: There's nothing really new (since I think they've been posted recently), but Lee told me that Olive would be joining a convent and that a major storyline would have to do with Ned and Chuck's fathers. And we'll probably be seeing Ned's dad on the show.
- He seemed to be really excited to hear that I was a Pushing Daisies fan, and you can definitely tell that he absolutely loves working on the show.
- This might sound like an incredibly stupid question to you guys, but I had been confused about the whole no touching thing...I asked if they could only touch through certain materials (plastic, rubber) since if they could touch through clothing, couldn't they hug and and hold hands while wearing normal clothing and gloves all the time? But, yes, they could hug, but "It's risky!"
- Lee was super sweet and thanked me multiple times for attending the screening, and him and his publicist (or the film's?) urged us to tell all of our friends to go see The Fall (they said they didn't have much of a marketing budget)- so go see it! I don't think the reviews were very good, but I (and everyone I know that has seen it) thought it was amazing. I'm not sure if it's still in theaters anywhere, but the DVD comes out in September, so hooray!
Bonus photo of a Pushing Daisies-inspired apple gruyere pie my friends and I made...yum!
